Oh wow. Well, its not much different than porn.. Unlike hot coffee mod, this would at least be rated AO from the start.

I agree with Thomas. As a fellow Zelazny fan (love the first five Amber books, hate the second five and A Night In the Lonesome October is just so very good), I was thrilled when Thomas pointed out this gem. Yesterday was when he mentioned it and today is when I finished it.

Great stuff. I'm just sorry that many Zelazny fans might miss it since it'll be shelved away from the rest of his stuff at most bookstores.

I still think marijuana should be legal and alcohol illegal. Even though I'm no longer a police officer I still cringe when I smell those fumes on someones breath. I also don't understand why the government would not love a drug that makes people slow, dumb, complacent, and prone to hugging vs. slugging. So as not to make you a complete criminal I guess I can make an exception for Scotch when I'm king lord emperor in charge. But only 12 year single malt in old sherry casks- I can compromise.

Did you see that UC Davis is going to screen Pirates II. 1st time in about a decade or more that they have screened porn. Guess I missed out being there in the late 80's.

Live pornographic theatre from the 1700's. Drag it won't still be around when I'm in town. You know, a review of my first novel likened it to Grand Guignol. Not quite sure how to take that--guess I'll just have to take it as a compliment.

Any more information you can provide on "The Discipline"? I suspect it is part of the anti-clerical sentiment of pre-Revolutionary France, discrediting flagellation as a religious and educational practice and making it a purely sexual act.

Thanks -- interestingly, between then & now I purchased an iPod Touch for the sole purpose of being an ebook reader. It gets mixed reviews. Stanza is the free program that serves as an ebook reader; you can pretty easily convert text files to ebook files with it using the free download Stanza Desktop. However, I am not crazy about the formatting and it does not auto-scroll, which is the whole reason I like ebooks -- my mind tends to get much more focused and I read quicker when books are autoscrolling.

eReader is also free, and available for iPod Touch, but it also gets mixed reviews for other reasons. I do not like buying ebooks through ereader.com (formerly Peanut Press) because they are DRMed all to hell and if you ever lose your credit card or get a new one and forget to record the number, they are locked forever.

I have not found ASSTR that awesome for browsing because I don't like Safari that much, but the free (or $5 for the pro version) Wikipedia browser Wikipanion has kept me entertained for hours and has greatly streamlined my writing research.

Glad you liked the stories! I have zillions more, you may be able to read them shortly after I decide what to do with them.... new one on Thomasroche.com by the way -- Temple of Love, http://thomasroche.com/2009/03/01/temple-of-love/

Hope you're well,

My apologies for taking so long to respond! This is my alternate journal and gets less frequent visits and updates. I tend to read ASSTR just in a browser window. It occurs to me that I should see if there are any free ebook reader apps that would work. My ipod Touch isn't jailbroken, but surely there's something that would work in the app store.

I did enjoy them, but read them very quickly. ;-) It was lovely to get the pointer to the content, though. Thank you again!

this is such a complex and fascinating topic. I'm challenged by those old wartime works by artists I generally revere. I hope they were more a sign of the times as opposed to being an indicator of deep seated racism...
