Five Bloody Graves / Nurse Sherri (Retro Shock-O-Rama)

This double-disk re-release gets you two classic flims from shock-schlockmeister Al Adamson. Five Bloody Graves is in many ways a straightforward and formulaic Western, a departure for Adamson, who usually directed horror flicks. But not too much of a departure, given that a Graves follows a series of savage massacres in the old west, including a number of gruesome deaths and a vicious fight or two narrated bizzarely by John Carradine as Death. There’s no real sex but there’s lots of prostitutes and a fair amount of flesh. However, I gotta say, if you’re going to use this one as a seduction device, your life better be Brokeback Mountain in the back of the grindhouse theater, seriously. Two chainsaws and barely any vibrators.

Nurse Sherri is more standard-issue horror-shock fare, typical of Adamson. A Satanic necromancer dies and leaves his spirit to ravish sexy nurse Sherri, who not only spends a reasonable amount of the movie scantily-clad but walks around with weapons and splattered in blood as she wreaks gory Satanic revenge on the patients and employees of her hospital. Rock on. This is Hammer-esque gore-o-liciousness. Three chainsaws and a pair of buzzing vibrators.
