BoingBoing reports on the recent first-person essay on BMEZine about Louis Rove, the adoptive father of Karl Rove, who “apparently lived the latter part of his life as an out gay man who was deeply involved in body piercing culture.”
They’ve posted an audio interview with body piercing pioneer Jim Ward, founder of piercing shop The Gauntlet, who personally administered genital piercings to the elder Mr. Rove. Fakir Musafar also knew Louis Rove and photographed his piercings for a 1983 issue of the first bodymod magazine I ever saw, Piercing Fans International Quarterly.
